11.1. Product-specific rule (PSR)

Agricultural products

For most agricultural products, re-export cannot exceed six months.

Milk and dairy products

This is a very sensitive Community market, in which the terms granted for inward processing are limited: the periods being for the validity of the authorization and for re-export are three and four months respectively. In addition, any authorization granted must be sent to Brussels for scrutiny.

Live animals for export and meat

The same applies to live animals and meat: the re-export period varies depending on the goods, and nature of inward processing, from two to six months. In this case, too, strict control by Brussels is required.

11.2. Different rules according to specific geographical areas

The export of certain compensating products to some third countries (EFTA, some CEECs, Israel, Turkey) –where the issue of a certificate of Community origin of these products is required to allow the granting of preferential tariff treatment provided for in the agreements concluded between the Community and said third countries at the time of their importation - does not entitle for reimbursement of the duties paid for inward processing – but involves the payment of duties due and put on hold for inward processing - suspension system ("NO DRAWBACK" rule).
